Can’t stay glued to your twitter timeline but still interested in the Mariners? Let’s try this as an experiment. A blog post that will be updated throughout the day with everything of note that I’ve tweeted on the M’s.

Plus a little more. If there’s some supplemental info that didn’t fit into a tweet, I’ll try to add that , too.

The latest stuff will be on top. (Look, it won’t be instantaneous. You’ll need to follow me on twitter for that (@TNT_Mariners), but I’ll try to update it regularly. This is designed more for the fan who wants to check in a few times a day. So bookmark the site.)

Let’s see how it goes for a few days. If there’s much of a response, I’ll try to do it as a regular feature.

9:39: #Mariners sweep split-squad DH from Giants (18-3) and Dodgers (8-5). The capsule report from our Insiders Blog. bit.ly/1ilQmPP

8:52: Can tell you what I hear: talent; not there yet. @sdotgrabinski what is your opinion on James Jones?

8:44: Jesus Montero with his second homer of the game, and #Mariners lead 7-5 in eighth

7:57: #Mariners LF Stefen Romero throws out Dee Gordon at the plate for an inning-ending DP. M’s lead Dodgers 6-3 through five. Heck of a throw.

7:25: Positioned for the W. Hands over three-run lead to Logan Kensing. @fabianstrategy9 That is a very Blake Beavan line

7:23: #Mariners RHP Blake Beavan done after three innings. Three hits, three runs but only one earned. One walk and two strikeouts.

7:03: Smoak homer came after the Dodgers failed to catch a very catchable two-out fly by Nick Franklin into short center.

7:01: And the #Mariners lead 5-3 on a two-run homer by Justin Smoak in the third.

6:39: Mariners pull even on back-to-back homers by Montero and Romero.

6:15: Kyle Seager follows Almonte with a single against Beckett but is erased on a DP when Nick Franklin lines out to RF.

6:11 #Mariners CF Abraham Almonte opens game against Dodgers RHP Josh Beckett with line single to right…and then gets picked off.

3:32: #Mariners romp past Giants 18-3. Split-squad DH continues tonight against Dodgers. Our game capsule from opener. bit.ly/1ilQmPP

2:17: #Mariners answer SF’s two runs in sixth by scoring three in seventh for 12-2 lead. Dustin Ackley delivers two-run triple.

1:25: #Mariners RHP Erasmo Ramirez likely done after four strong innings. No runs, one hit, one walk and four strikeouts. M’s lead Giants 9-0.

9:56: D.J. Peterson getting look recently but McClendon cautions: “This kid is not going to make the club but it’s not bad to get kids over here.”

EXTRA: “We’ll get his feet wet a little bit. Give him an opportunity to show what he can do…(Ketel) Marte is a pretty exciting young man. There’s another kid over here, (Carson) Smith. We’ve got some talent here. We’ll get them over here and see what they can do.

9:48: McClendon on Abraham Almonte in center field: ” I like what I see to this point.”

EXTRA: “He’s moving well in the outfield. He’s moving well around the fence. He’s throwing well. He’s running well. He hasn’t been successful with his bunt attempts quite yet. That’s still a work in progress. I like what I see to this point. I like the total package. Switch-hitter. He gives you speed on the bases. He can score from first. He has some pop. Andy has done a nice job with him in the outfield. You can see the improvement. The total package is pretty good.”

9:43: McClendon on concerns regarding OF defense: “It can’t be any worse than it was last year. We had a horrible defensive outfield last year.”

EXTRA: “I think have options that will make it better this year. That’s all I can tell you at this time. I will say this: It will be better.”

9:40: McClendon on whether there’s anything to choose so far between SS candidates Franklin and Miller: “No. I’d say they’re quite equal.”

9:36: #Mariners’ Corey Hart shows no day-after problems after testing knees Friday for first time in RF. DHing today; likely back in RF on Sunday.

9:33: McClendon says Taijuan Walker shows no renewed shoulder problems after two days of playing catch. “The trainers tell me he’s feeling fine.”

EXTRA: “It was good to see him with a smile on his face. All indications are he’s fine.”

9:31: #Mariners 2B Robinson Cano still recovering from what must have been a nasty root canal. Could play Sunday. More likely on Monday.

EXTRA: “He’s here today. He’s still a little sore and a little drugged up. He’s better. My guess is there’s an outside chance he might play tomorrow. I doubt it. More than likely he’ll do a light workout. We’ll see.”

<So Monday?> “That’s what I’m leaning toward.”

After 3 months on the job, you admit the blog isn’t a priority. This for the first time had some meat. Your blogs are few, too short and seldom contains anything a reader hasn’t read somewhere else. No thanks, I’m not following anyone on Twitter. If the blog isn’t a priority, great, I can get the info somewhere else. Have you ever used links?

  3. Palerydr says:

Hey Bob not all people think you’re doing a poor job. I for one enjoy the info you’re getting out to us. I think you’re doing a great job. I’m not a twitter guy so I wouldn’t use that form of info to get my BB knowledge but I’m sure there are plenty who do. I’m guessing at least a 100 people a day read this blog but just don’t comment. I’m sure you have a counter set up, if you do I would be curious to know the actual number of hits.

Oh and Wabubba and BBMate have been at each others throats for quite a while now. If I were in the entertainment biz I would set up a cage match between the 2, sell it on the net and donate the proceeds to a worthy charity. My money would be on BBMate.

  4. I am also enjoying your reporting. Blog will grow.

  5. Profanity isn’t very classy.
