The Seattle Mariners announced Tuesday outfielder Raul Ibañez will receive the 49th annual Hutch Award at a Jan. 30 luncheon at Safeco Field.

The award is named after former major league baseball player and manager Fred Hutchinson, who died of cancer in 1964.

The award, launched a year after Hutchinson’s death by three of his friends, is presented annually at the Hutch Award Luncheon which raises funds for cancer research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

This year Ibañez hit 29 home runs, including the 300th of his career, tying him with Ted Williams for most home runs in a season by a player 41 or older.
