Michael Morse is back in the line-up after missing a few games with a sore wrist. He’s still wearing a brace on the wrist, but said the wrist had been fine.
Acting manager Robby Thompson said he’s going to call Eric Wedge after batting practice today to discuss the team. He’s also hoping to use the off day to help Wedge catch up with what’s going on with the team.
“I know that he wants to come back slowly,” Thompson said. “I know that he’s been told that. He can’t really just jump in full bore. We’ll work off each other just like we have in the past.”
Thompson said Wedge may dial back some of his lengthy pregame routine, perhaps not staying out for the whole time during batting practice.
The Mariners bullpen continues to be inconsistent. And it looks like nothing like the bullpen at the start of the season.
The season opened with: Tom Wihelmsen, Stephen Pryor, Carter Capps, Lucas Luetge, Kameron Loe, Charlie Furbush and Oliver Perez.
Now it’s: Danny Farquhar, Carter Capps, Yoervis Medina, Brandon Maurer, Lucas Luetge, Charlie Furbush and Oliver Perez.
“We didn’t really anticipate having four right-handed rookies the bullpen right now with one of them being the set-up man and one is your closer,” Thompson said. “It’s not really how we looked at it happening.”
