Brandon Maurer was cruising along in Salt Lake City and then suddenly lost his command and the Rainiers eventually lost 5-0.

For his Sunday minor league notebook in the TNT, Mike Curto writes about Clinton’s clean-up hitter Gaby Guerrero, who is the nephew of Vlad Guerrero. And the story is correct, the resemblance to Vlad is remarkable. In Curto’s blog he wraps up yesterday as well as previews Taijuan Walker’s start today.

After being rained out on Friday, Double A Jackson swept a double header, posting two 7-inning shutouts from Roenis Elias and Anthony Vasquez.

Class A High Desert scored five runs off of rehabbing pitcher Ted Lilly, but then committed six errors in a 16-6 loss.

Class A Clinton picked up a 6-5 walk-off win. Martin Peguero supplied the game-winning hit.

Class A Everett snapped a four-game losing streak with a 14-8 win over Salem-Keizer. Top draft pick DJ Peterson hit two homers and Justin Seager hit his first professional homer in the win.

Stephen Pryor threw a bullpen session up in Everett, and he said everything went well.

Rookie League Pulaski got a solid outing from starting pitcher Jose Flores in a 5-1 win.

Everett is a great venue to see the future! To any fan who appreciates baseball, the minor leagues are a great value for the money. The cross over between the Mariners and the Rainiers is so frequent, we might as well rename both teams SeaTac! Fly, fly away!
