From our intern Sam Horn …

Tajuan Walker and Brad Miller were selected to participate in the 2013 Futures Game held over All-Star weekend at Citi field in New York.  It will take place  on Sunday, July 14, and is the first of the three day All-Star event at Citi Field.

Walker was impressive in his debut with the Rainiers on Tuesday, June 25.  He struck out four batters and allowed no runs to secure his first win of his young Triple-A career.

Miller has been one of the offensive juggernauts for the Rainiers this season, averaging .350 at the plate with five home runs and 27 runs batted in.  He has currently hit in 21 straight games, which is the longest active streak in the Pacific Coast League.

For the first time, fans will be able to determine the final player for the both the U.S. and World rosters for the Futures game.  First baseman Ji-Man Choi from Double-A affiliate Jackson is vying for the last roster spot on the World team.  In order to vote for Choi, go to and type #VoteChoi in the vote box.  Fans may begin voting immediately and must cast their ballots until Sunday, June 30 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

  1. Funny, for a story about his youth and nerves, Walker looks like a grizzled veteran in the picture the TNT used for that story today!
