The Tacoma Rainiers suffered a 6-1 defeat to the Sacramento River Cats, but more was lost than just a game. Outfielder Eric Thames will be out for a few a while after colliding with teammate Nate Tenbrink on a fly ball.

Dustin Ackley did single to extend his hitting streak to 16 games.

Here’s Mike Curto’s blog post that explains the injury situation more. The post contains video to a crazy brawl that featured former Mariner Rob Johnson. Also Mr. Curto wrote his Sunday minor league notebook for the TNT, discussing some of the other starting pitching in the organization.

Three pitchers combined for a 3-0 shutout win over Birmingham  for Double A Jackson.  Here’s a nice story on outfielder James Jones.

Class A High Desert has now lost six of its last eight games with a disappointing 8-6 defeat to Inland Empire.

Class A Clinton lost 10-3.

Class A Everett improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-4 win.
