6-15 -- Mariners lineup

Mike Zunino is out of the line-up today. Mariners manager Eric Wedge wanted to get recent signee Henry Blanco some game action. It works out well since Blanco has caught Felix Hernandez in games before for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. Zunino has only caught Hernandez in bullpen sessions in spring training. I don’t know that he ever caught Hernandez in a Cactus League game. He may have caught him in a simulated game. We didn’t get a chance to talk to Zunino because he was busy with the strength coach while also doing some pregame defensive drills. Those things have to remain constant even after being called up.

Michael Morse is back at first base for the second day in a row. Morse told Wedge that he felt good after playing there last night. Obviously Morse is still montero-ing around the bases, but the Mariners are willing to live with that if he can still be giving them at-bats.

Remember today is a Fox national broadcast which is Q13 in the Puget Sound area. Former Fox Sports Northwest employee Rich Waltz and former Dodger first baseman Eric Karros will be on the call.
