Pettitte mows down Mariners

Not much to say about this one. Andy Pettitte owned the Mariners throughout the day. He gave up just three hits and threw 85 pitches in 7 1/3 innings. It was thorough and rapid domination of the Mariners’ meager offense in the Yankees’ 3-1 win.

Thanks to producing just a run Saturday and Kansas City scoring seven in its game, the Mariners are now 14th in the 15-team American League in runs scored. Only the Chicago White Sox have fewer.

Felix Hernandez is on the hill Sunday trying to help the Mariners split with the Yankees.
