The Rainiers rallied to tie the game in the ninth, but couldn’t complete the comeback in a 6-5 loss to the Memphis Redbirds. Memphis had one of the top Cardinals prospects – Michael Wacka – start and pitch seven strong innings. He looked pretty tough, throwing 96 mph at times.

Franklin Gutierrez was in his first rehab start at DH and went 1-for-5 with a big bases loaded single (above).

Double A Jackson managed just four hits in a 6-4 loss to Tennessee. Vinnie Catricala went 2-for-4 with a homer.

Class A High Desert’s late rally came up short in a 4-3 loss.  Ji-Man Choi went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a walk.

Class A Clinton got an outstanding start from lefty Matt Anderson, who threw six shutout innings, in a 6-1 win over Beloit.
