5-17 -- new lineups

Update 3:07 p.m. PST: The Mariners scratched right field Michael Morse because of eye irritation. Here’s the revamped line-up.

Morse did not take batting practice. We aren’t sure how the irritation happened. There is some thought he might have scratched it while putting in his contacts.

Endy Chavez moves into right field and will bat eighth.  It’s a tough break for the Mariners since Morse had been hitting so well in the last few games and seemed to have some things figured out.

DFA Andino or trade Ryan to make room on the 40 man. Don’t throw away another unproven prospect when you know those two have no place on this team. Ryan (love his glove and vibe) could get at last some return in trade, plus giving him the opportunity with a contender in respect of his contributions. Andino hasn’t show enough to keep, or to play. I’d rather have a few weeks of either Martinez or Catricala than another inning of Andino. If you need room later, fine, at least you gave them a shot.

Otherwise, they’ll end up in the all-star game with whoever claims them. I doubt Andino has that potential.
