A more normal line-up for manager Eric Wedge in the final game of the series here in Toronto. Justin Smoak and Jason Bay are back in the line-up to face Brandon Morrow. The former Mariners first round pick doesn’t have great numbers this season. Then again no Blue Jay pitcher has particularly great numbers.
Here’s the rotation probables for the upcoming games.
You’ll notice Brandon Maurer has been pushed back with the off days. This is to help manage his innings count. He has never thrown more than 140 innings in his career. So the Mariners and Wedge have to be a little vigilant about that. Maurer’s last start was on April 30. So it will be 10 days in between.
Wedge said he’s contemplating how he’ll handle the games in Pittsburgh with no designated hitter. He said he’s already looking at pitching match-ups and other aspects. But with only two games it really isn’t that much of a burden. I’d guess he’d start Morales and Smoak one game each.
