James Paxton had perhaps had his best out of the season for the Rainiers, pitching five innings and giving up one run on two hits while striking out nine hitters and walking just one. Tacoma managed to hang on to win its ninth game in the row, despite a late rally by Reno.  Carlos Triunfel had three more hits for Tacoma.

Class A High Desert picked up a 9-7 win over Lancaster. Ji-Man Choi went 3-for-5 with a double and a homer.

Rain cancelled games for Jackson and Clinton.

Jesus Christ, break up the M’s. Good to see that all those preseason worries about Iwakuma were unfounded. Saunders may be the best position player on this team all around. Good to see Ackley finally hit a ball over the fence.

I don’t share that prayer, I’m afraid: I’m happy with the Mariners just the way they are!
