The Mariners are not going to get my money until they have a good team. It costs me about a buck fifty for a game. I can better entertainment lots of other places. Bring back Lou.

@mrbaileyboy – i agree and am also financially boycotting the Mariners (earliest since I began doing this in 2008) until they turn the corner. I have cancelled Satellite TV, as the primary reason I had it was to watch the M’s. I bought in this year emotionally and even though they’ve had a nice homestand, I’ll go away and check in from time to time during the season. Depending upon what they show, and what Z does will determine my interest level and future financial involvement.

BTW, Lou Piniella was bigger than life, but a lousy manager. He inherited a team on the verge, and couldn’t manage his way out of a wet paper bag. He burned through prospects (especially pitchers) with total disregard, and got lucky…really lucky….in 95. During his years here, that team should have won 1-3 World Series’. We’ve held up the 95 season as the Miracle that Saved Baseball here, and it did, but for what? To get a stadium that’s too expensive to attend, to see a team that’s too inept to win? Um, no.

The larger issue here is how far the Mariners have fallen (it’s ALL on ownership, Lincoln and Armstrong), and how willing they have been to allow the team and fandom to disintegrate while “net worth” increases exponentially. They don’t need fans, only TV money. So be it.

    I am….OUT.

PS: Don’t blame Wedge and Z too much…they are playing the cards they’ve been dealt.

  3. I’ve cancelled all cable TV; I also mostly had it for the M’s but my #1 reason was financial; especially as unlike the Seahawks the M’s are not on the “broadcast (LOL)” tier.

I miss the days of over the air tv that actually worked. We’re in the second “great depression”. Cable TV is not an option when I can’t make the house payment.
