3-30 -- line-up vs. rockies

The Mariners roll out what will likely be their opening day line-up on Monday against lefty Brett Anderson in Oakland. While most of the starters are in, they probably only play two to three innings.

Not sure when the Mariners will make the final roster move with Casper Wells. It could come postgame or they may wait till tomorrow morning in Oakland. Either way, Jason Bay is in and Wells is out. The rules are different in spring. The Mariners will have to release Wells. If they hope to keep him, they will have to re-sign him. If that happens he wouldn’t be eligible to play until May.

This field – Spring Mobile Ballpark – in Salt Lake City is really nice. Mike Curto, the voice of the Rainiers, considers it one of the best in the Pacific Coast League. Kendrys Morales played parts of three seasons here with the Salt Lake Bees.

“I spent a lot of time here, three seasons, and really enjoyed it,” Morales said through translator and bullpen coach Jaime Navarro. “This was where I prepared and learned how to be a better baseball player. I knew I was one step away from the big leagues and I was focused on becoming a better baseball player during my time here. Love the ballpark, love the people here. It is nice being back.”

Any chance the Mariners can resign him? Or would he look to move on?

  2. He’ll look for the best spot where he can get back to the big leagues quickest.
