If Guti can stay healthy, then we are in good shape. If not, then Saunders goes to center and we are left with the Bay/Raul/Wells/Thames decision.

The 5 I see sticking:
Mike Saunders-Hope he reaches the potential Sandlot Sam predicts I’m with ya there.
Mike Morse- Big bat no glove hopefully he makes the routine plays
Franklin Gutierrez- Can this guy avoid inj AND put up a decent season?
Raul Ibanez- The old pro who will become somebody’s hitting coach in the near future.
Casper Wells- Only cuz he can play solid defense at all 3 outfield spots.

I think Saunders just might put himself on the map nationally this season. He’s got scary tools. And a good head on his shoulders. And he’s relentless. That’s a pretty good combination for success.

The guy has flaws, all right. How long before he’s out of options? I look forward to the day when Peggy is no longer thing up a spot on the 40 man roster.

I am a bit concerned, though, about the amount of weight Wedge seemingly puts on spring training performances. We all know pitchers are out there trying to work on specific pitches, trying to get stretched out – getting guys out often isn’t #1 on their list. I have no doubt Bay can still hammer a change up when he knows one is coming; giving him a roster spot based on doing that would just be dumb.
