The official provisional rosters for the 2013 World Baseball Classic have been announced (all of them listed below).  To no real surprise, Felix Hernandez is a member of the Venezuela team. Hernandez has great national pride in playing for his country. He played in the last WBC. Obviously, there is an injury risk. But he just starts his offseason conditioning a little earlier.

Not on the Venezuela roster is Franklin Gutierrez. With his history of injuries and this being a contract year, it seems likely Gutierrez decided to focus on the upcoming season.

As mentioned last week, Michael Saunders in on the Canada roster. Third baseman/first baseman Alex Liddi will play for Italy, while reliever Oliver Perez will pitch for Mexico.

The Mariners have a handful of minor leaguers representing their respective countries on the provisional rosters. Shortstop Pedro Okuda, left-handed pitcher Luiz Gohara and right-handed pithcers Jean Tome and Thyago Vieira are all on the Brazil roster. Outfielder Kalian Sams will play for the Netherlands and pitcher Wei Wang will represent China.
