Cousins is just another piece for the 40-man roster. If the Mariners do make a deal in the offseason, players like Carp, Robinson, Peguero or Wells could be throw ins for package deal. Cousins gives them some depth. The extra minor league option is also useful. At this point, you can’t really rely on Gutierrez for more than 100 games a season.

A team already crowded with marginal outfielders finds room for another one on the 40 man roster. Hoping the scouts saw something in this move, because on paper it doesn’t seem to be all that impactful.
