Yes, the Seattle Mariners are in the thick of the post-season race again – just not one of their own.

This three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels is key to the Angels stayiing in the wild card race, and expect them and manager Mike Scioscia to play all-out. The Mariners are likely to do the same, so it’s going to come down to talent and heart.

The Mariners have plenty of one, not enough of the other, but rookie Erasmo Ramirez has been pitching as well as any one, and he’ll start tonight. Behind him, Dustin Ackley returns to the lineup, John Jaso will be the designated hitter and, after a team day off, Miguel Olivo will catch.

Here’s the lineup, with one change Michael Saunders, originally pencilled in as the right fielder, is with his wife and new daughter, born this morning. In his place, Eric Thames:

Ackley 2B,
Gutierrez CF
Seager 3B
Jaso DH
Smoak 1B
Thames RF
Olivo C
Robinson LF
Ryan SS
Ramirez  RHP

moo, you can watch the games for free online at http://www.thefirstrow.eu/sport/baseball.html

It’s probably not safe for work because of pop-ups. You need to use Safari or firefox. Explorer doesn’t work. You may need to download a player or something to get it to work.
