Brendan Ryan

It’s hard to look at this series with the Los Angeles Angel and see the Seattle Mariners coming away with more than a win – and their best chance at victory comes tonight, when Felix Hernandez starts.

After that, Seattle faces Dan Haren and Jered Weaver, and the Mariners lineup may not be able to give much help to starters Hisashi Iwakuma or Jason Vargas.

The good news for Seattle is that shortstop Brendan Ryan is back after missing a week with a bruised elbow, and while his offense had been picking up, it’s his defense the Marienrs miss more. John Jaso will catch, Casper Wells will be in left and Eric ‘The Adventure’ Thames will be in right field.

Here’s the lineup vs. right-hander Ervin Santana:

Dustin Ackley    2B
Michael Saunders   CF
Jesus Montero          DH
John Jaso              C
Kyle Seager        3B
Mike Carp          1B
Casper Wells           LF
Eric Thames         RF
Brendan Ryan           SS
Felix Hernandez        RHP
