Center fielder Franklin Gutierrez is out of the lineup with a concussion suffered last night, so the Seattle Mariners have tossed hot-hitting Casper Wells in center, kept Ichiro Suzuki in right field and in left – ack! – it will be Chone Figgins.
Manager Eric Wedge will have an update on Gutierrez and the lineup in about an hour, but for now figure Hector Noesi will have to deliver one of his best starts to keep the Boston Red Sox within range of the Mariners.
Last night, Felix Hernandez was brilliants – and won, 1-0, on the final play of the game. They key? Keep Boston in the park. In games they’ve been held without a home run this year, the Red Sox are 5-20.
Here’s the lineup against right-hander Aaron Cook:
Ichiro Suzuki RF
33 Casper Wells CFKyle Seager 3B
Jesus Montero DH
John Jaso C
Justin Smoak 1B
Dustin Ackley 2B
Chone Figgins LF
Brendan Ryan SS
Hector Noesi RHP

Send Noesi down already. Time to give Iwakuma a starting role. And what exactly will it take for them to lance the boil also known as Bilbo Figgins?
