Miguel Olivo’s return to the Seattle Mariners today landed him back in the lineup, while right-handed reserve outfielder Casper Wells was optioned to Tacoma.

No, it’s not the move many of you wanted. Not even the move many in the Seattle clubhouse had thought most prudent. That would have sent Chone Figgins packing, but apparently the team front office felt differently.

Meanwhile, here’s tonight’s lineup vs. the Angels:

Dustin Ackley  2B
Alex Liddi            LF
Ichiro Suzuki      RF
Kyle Seager       3B
Jesus Montero         DH
Mike Carp         1B
Miguel Olivo          C
Michael Saunders   CF
Brendan Ryan    SS
Jason Vargas LHP

  1. I’m glad Liddi’s in the lineup, but my cat’s a better outfielder. As Liddi is blocked at 3B by Seager & at 2b by Ackley (his 2 natural positions) Olivo MUST GO to make room for Liddi at DH. Think Edgar Martinez.

Also think of the numerous players the M’s have harmed by either changing their natural position (Ackley for one imo) or trying to make them a utility player (Morse).
