The lineups just keep coming for the Seattle Mariners, either by choice or necessity – and today’s change is required by the absence of first baseman Justin Smoak - down with a tight right hamstring.

Without Smoak, the Mariners slide Dustin Ackley over from second base to first and get infielder Munenori Kawasaki into the lineup at second base. It’s still a disappointment, as Smoak was coming off a four-hit game Tuesday. Jesus Montero, the designated hitter, will bat fourth in Smoak’s spot.

Here’s tonight’s lineup:

Chone Figgins LF,
Dustin Ackley 1B
Ichiro RF
Jesus Montero dh
Kyle Seager 3B
Michael Saunders CXF
Miguel Olivo C
Munenori Kawasaki 2B
Brendan Ryan SS
Jason Vargas LHP

  1. Montero hitting fourth? Carp can’t come back too soon for me.
