The 1-0 Seattle Mariners break out a lineup with veterans today against the Oakland Athletics, from leadoff hitter Chone Figgins to No. 3 hitter Ichiro Suzuki.

A noon (PST) start will be broadcast on 710 ESPN in the Northwest, and the man-most-likely-to-see-time-in-center-field, Michael Saunders, will see if he can continue what has been an early tour de force at home plate.

With Franklin Gutierrez (pectoral muscle) out 4-6 weeks, Saunders is the best defensive option in center, and in four intra-squad games led the team in hits, stole a base and homered. In yesterday’s Cactus League opener, he homered again.

Here’s the lineup for Game 2:

Chone Figgins  3B
Dustin Ackley  2B
Ichiro  RF
Justin Smoak  1B
Mike Carp  LF
Miguel Olivo  C
Carlos Peguero  DH
Michael Saunders  CF
Brendan Ryan SS
Hector Noesi P
