What a great game last night. The kind of game that makes baseball the best sport to watch. Thank goodness Wedge didn't put Tatoo League in the 9th inning. You let the best pitcher in the game finish what he started. Especially when there is no reason to take him out. Too bad Scioscia didn't do the same with Haren workign on a 5-hit shutout. Way to play Group think Mike.

As I recall, Wilson didn't lose his job, not in the competitive sense; ss was rewarded to Brendan Ryan and Wilson was moved to second. He didn't handle it very well, granted, but I would like to have seen more competition. By all reports, Wilson worked hard in the offseason to come in ready to play.

As for pulling oneself from the game, a great player--Joe Dimaggio--did it more than once, and there must have been others. However, in Joe's case, it was more than his psyche that was injured; his body was giving out on him.

I'm glad to see Wilson go to a new situation where he will be given an honest chance to re-establish himself. Let's see how he does in Atlanta, where he finally gets a shot at the postseason. The man can pick it.

A good move by the M's. I always felt Wilson was a little suspect after pulling himself from that game. What player ever pulls himself from a game if he's not injured?
