Smoak back in the lineup for Seattle

Plenty of players out taking early BP, including Dustin Ackley, Adam Kennedy, Miguel Olivo and Justin Smoak. If you look below, Smoak is back in the lineup after missing the last five games with a jammed left thumb. It’s been a frustrating couple of months for Smoak, who saw his hot start drop after issues with both thumbs arose as well as pitchers limiting the amount of his fastballs he would see, particularly with runners on base.

If Smoak is healthy, these final 46 games could be highly valuable in salvaging his season. The same could be said for Franklin Gutierrez. Realistically, these games do have some importance level. As I talked about with Ian Furness and Jason Puckett, there is something to be gained for players like Smoak,  Ackley, Trayvon Robinson, Kyle Seager, Blake Beavan and all the other youngsters.
