Nick Franklin

The Mariners Minor League rep0rt after a couple of days hiatus (took a few days off).

With Dustin Ackley and Michael Pineda now with the Rainiers, who is the top prospect in the minor leagues. Of the pitchers, it would probably be lefty James Paxton or right-hander Taijuan Walker, both with Class A Clinton. Of the position player prospects, it might be shortstop Nick Franklin.

After a slow start, Franklin is starting to pick it up for Class A High Desert. Yesterday, he had three hit, stole three bases and scored four runs in the Mavs’ 9-6 12-inning win over Lake Elsinore.

Franklin is hitting .275 with a .356 OBP and a .411 slugging percentage with 13 stolen bases.

Triple A Tacoma lost 3-2 to Salt Lake City. Ryan Langerhans homered in the loss.

Double A Jackson was off the for the Southern League All-star game.

Class A Clinton picked up a 1-0 win. Left-hander Anthony Fernandez pitched seven shut-out innings, allowing just four hits and striking out seven. The LumberKings had just two hits, but one was s solo homer from Julio Morban.

Class A Everett picked up a 5-4 win in 11 innings as Jetsy Extrano (great name) tripled home the winning run.
