Greetings from Cheney Stadium. The Rainiers are playing day baseball against the Reno Aces. No Mike Carp hasn’t homered … yet.

But he did last night. In fact he went 4-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer. Carp extended his hit streak to a season-high 16 games, batting .397 (27×68) with 15 runs scored, 4 doubles, 7 home runs and 22 RBI. He has also hit safely in 30 of his last 32 games with an at-bat, batting .390 (53×136) with 34 runs, 11 doubles, 13 home runs and 41 RBI. Since April 23 Carp has raised his season average from .172 to .325.

With Carlos Peguero struggling, I just don’t know how long they can leave Carp down in Tacoma.

But the Rainiers lost 11-10. Alex Liddi committed a throwing error on a run down.

Double A Jackson had its three-game winning streak snapped with a 6-5 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits. Johermyn Chavez for the Generals.

Class A High Desert lost 8-2, but it appears James Jones is slowly breaking out of his early season funk. He went 1 for 2 with a walk and a triple.

Class A Clinton picked up a 4-3 win in the 10th. Jabari Blash had two hits, including a homer.
