Alex Liddi

With the Mariners having today off, it’s a good today to catch up on your minor league teams and players.

You could head on over to Cheney Stadium or you can listen to the dulcet tones of the voice of the Rainiers Mike Curto, by tuning into 850-AM or www.tacomarainiers.com as the Rainiers take on the Tucson Padres at 7 p.m.

The Rainiers tried to rally for yet another win against the Reno Aces. But they came up just short. The good news is that third baseman Alex Liddi hit a pair of homers for Tacoma, and Carlos Peguero had three hits and a homer in the loss.

Double A Jackson won its fourth straight game as starter Anthony Vasquez pitched seven shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out seven with no walks.

Steven Baron

Class A High Desert picked up a 4-3 win as Denny Almonte and Dennis Raben drove in two runs each.

Class A Clinton exploded offensively for a 10-8 win over Beloit. Catcher Steven Baron had a big game going 3-for-4 with a homer and two doubles and three runs scored. Baron is hitting .283 (17-for-60) with a .362 on-base percentage and a .400 slugging percentage. He has struck out 17 times. But there is vast improvement compared to last season.

  1. You could head on over to Cheney Stadium

I’m afraid it’s going to be awfully wet tonight with the roof fiasco, though on the other hand it’s going to be so empty that maybe out of the goodness of their hearts, the R’s FO will allow normal folks like me to get a decent seat at a freakin’ MINOR LEAGUE game for one of the only times this year.

Can you tell that a minor league team catering to rich corporations (suites, high priced & unavailable field boxes, etc) really irritates me??!

  2. Sorry Moo, I’m still in Boston and it’s 65 and sunny here. I should have known it was raining in the Puget Sound. Is spring ever going to come?

  3. My furnace is on at the moment, & it’s May!
