Mariners manager Eric Wedge was contemplating how to slot his rotation for the upcoming Rangers series with an off day on Monday. He was trying to balance on keeping people on regular rest and maybe give pitchers an extra day. He did that for Erik Bedard and it seemed to help as he won his next start and his fastball showed some improved velocity.  So far it looks like Wedge will stay the same and everyone will get the extra day of rest

So for the upcoming homestand starting on Tuesday, this is the likely pitching matchups.

Tuesday — LHP Erik Bedard vs. RHP Alexi Ogando, 7:10 p.m.

Wednesday – RHP Michael Pineda vs. LHP C.J. Wilson, 7:10 p.m.

Thursday –LHP Jason Vargas vs. RHP Colby Lewis, 7:10 p.m.

That Wednesday match-up between Pineda and Wilson looks very intriguing

Now the question will be whether Wedge goes with Felix Hernandez or Doug Fister on Friday night vs. the White Sox. Felix likes to keep his rest the same and doesn’t like that extra day. If Wedge wants to keep Felix on normal rest, he would pitch Friday. And Fister would get two extra days rest if he went on Saturday.
