The Mariners will be bringing a bit of the not so distant past to the upcoming season. They announced today that the next season they will add a new home alternate jersey to their selection of uniforms.
Yep, they are bringing back the teal of the early 90s. You may recall they broke out these jerseys on June 5, 2010 in a Turn Back the Clock game that was magically not televised in the Seattle area.
Officially, the jersey color is called “Northwest Green.” But whatever.
The “green” jersey will be the Mariners home alternate jersey and will be worn on Mondays and Fridays. Meanwhile, the navy alternate jersey that Seattle has been using for home games will now be their road alternate jersey only.
“When we brought the green jerseys back for this past year’s “Turn Back the Clock Day”, our fans and players told us they enjoyed the retro style, therefore we will make this a part of our 2011 uniform look,” General Manager Jack Zduriencik said in a press release.

Well, you have to give them credit. They had to start somewhere to bring back some offense, and these certainly are offensive. That’s why they retired them to begin with. Someone should run a poll- which jersey is worse- this one or the Seahawks Lime Green alternate jersey.

Hows about if we spend the $’s on a hitter or two instead of jerseys……

U-G-L-Y…..those uniforms ain’t got no alibi!
While we’re at it, let’s ignore reality and make plans with a 1995 calendar….can we check if Rich Amaral, Doug Strange, and Vince Coleman can still play, too??
Uniforms should be pretty simple…..white at home, gray on the road….and nothing else (for any other team in MLB). One of my first edicts if commissioner.
