With Cliff Lee winging his way to the Texas Rangers, right-hander David Pauley will start for the Seattle Mariners tonight – and lefty Luke French has been brought up from Tacoma to bolster the bullpen.

Starter David Pauley

New York Yankees, watch out.

Oddly enough, two of Pauley’s five big-league starts have been against New York – and he’s 0-2 with a 7.71 earned run average in those games. But that was back in 2006 and 2008.

At 27, he has never won a big-league game, but he’s only appeared in six of them – two this year in relief for the Mariners. In those, he pitched four innings without allowing a run.

New York Yankees, beware.

  1. I don’t get Pauley Starting rather then French who’s been tearing up the PCL all year.
