An exciting day at Cheney Stadium as Cliff Lee became the first Cy Young winner to pitch at Cheney Stadium after winning the award since Fernando Valenzeula pitched for Edmonton in 1991. It was a packed house that got to see Lee dominate Salt Lake hitters.

Of Note: Cliff Lee made an injury rehab start, but Salt Lake’s Trevor Bell matched him and Salt Lake jumped on the bullpen for a 4-1 win on Sunday afternoon. Lee allowed only 3 hits in 6.0 scoreless innings, while walking none and striking out 4. He tossed 68 pitches, 48 strikes. Josh Wilson has his safely in 12 of his last 13 games, batting .392 (20×51) with 5 runs scored, 8 doubles and 8 RBI. Josh Bard currently has a 5-game hit streak, batting .278 (5×18) with 1 run scored, 1 home run and 6 RBI.

Of Note: High Desert swept a doubleheader against Lake Elsinore, winning 4-2 and 10-2 on Sunday. In the first game, the Mavs scored all 4 of their runs in the 2nd inning, keyed by Juan Diaz’s 2-out, 2-run double. In the 2nd game, High Desert scored 7 runs in the 1st 3 innings, then added 3 more in the 5th. Nate Tenbrink hit a 3-run homer in the first, and Jacob Shaffer added a solo shot in the 2nd. The Mavs put together doubles by Edilio Colina, Rich Poythress and Travis Scott and a triple by Tenbrink for 3 more runs in the 3rd. Nate Tenbrink recorded his 8th multi-hit game of the season, extending his hit streak to 7 games. During the streak he his batting .393 (11×28) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 7 RBI.

Of Note: The bat of Nick Franklin helped Clinton claim a 3-1 victory in the resumption of last Saturday’s suspended game, but he and the rest of the offense couldn’t come back as Kane County split the day’s action with a 6-3 win in game 2. Nick Franklin went a combined 3×7 with 1 home run and 3 RBI yesterday, extending his hitting streak to 6 games (9×24, 5 R, 2 3B, 2 HR, 5 RBI). He’s reached base in 10 of his last 11 games, hitting .421 (16-for-38) during that span. Since April 10, he has hit safely in 13 of 15 games, batting .371 (23×62) with 10 runs scored, 1 double, 4 triples, 4 home runs and 12 RBI. James Jones currently has a 5-game hit streak, batting .316 (6×19) with 3 runs scored, 1 double, 1 home run and 6 RBI
