As the final roster decisions of Camp 2010 are made, outfielder Corey Patterson took one out of the hands of the Seattle Mariners.
He opted out of his minor league contract and became a free agent.
Patterson wasn’t going to win a job, having hit .216 in 19 spring games. His departure, however, leaves the Mariners with two outfielders – Ryan Langerhans and Eric Byrnes – and one available spot on Seattle’s bench.
Figure Byrnes wins that job. Langerhans has been fighting a tender left elbow and hasn’t played in a game in a week.
Patterson’s departure leaves the team with 32 players still in camp, 27 of those on the 40-man roster.
So why not put Langerhans on the 15-day DL? I guess the 40-man is the real problem…

The OF is Milton, Eric, Franklin, Ichiro, Griffey because that what he listed as on Roster.. Thought Ryan should go to minors because the guy is not a good hitter and has average arm.

Does Corey Patterson think he going to hook on team when alot of teams got their 25/40 man roster set.. Best for him to go to minors but that just me.

When healthy, Byrnes is a great player. It would be a nice surprise to have him put it all back together this year with the M’s. Here’s to hope!
