Box Score

Should have I posted this sooner? Probably.

Was I bit distracted because my alma mater – the University of Montana – was playing for the Big Sky Conference title on ESPN 2? Definitely.

Anyway, I laxed on the postgame blog. I apologize – but not wholeheartedly since I watched Tacoma’s own Anthony Johnson score a Big Sky Conference tournament record 42 points, including 34 second-half points, including Montana’s last 21 points to lead the Griz back from a 20-point deficit and a win over Weber State and into the NCAA tournament.

So yes, I lagged on a postgame report from a spring training game. I’m moderately sorry, yet still extremely happy.

Obviously, I wrote earlier about Cliff Lee.  And I wrote this for the paper.

What’s crazy about Lee’s showing is that he still could be even better. Both he and Don Wakamatsu believe that.

“I walked one guy, and I wasn’t really happy with that, but other than that, I felt like I threw a lot of strikes and used all of my pitches,” Lee said.

Lee was pretty solid, but Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu knows Lee can be even better.

“Lee was good,” Wakamatsu said. “I thought he was up in the zone, but again, it was nice to get him out there pitching. There were no problems with the ankle. Everything was good.

“He’s just working on feel right now.”

Sweeney went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and drove in three runs. He’s now hitting  .729 in Spring Training.

I also wrote about the Milton Bradley interview and the fallout, though I really would have preferred not to.

I also wrote earlier on here about my opinions on the whole situation. I’m tired of it, and hopefully won’t have to write about it again.

And since I’m doing some links on this post, I was on with Elise Woodward on KJR the other night. Most of it was about baseball and some shopping.

Anyway, the Mariners play the Giants tomorrow and Tim Lincecum gets the start again.

Grizz: one and done. But I’m with you on Bradley, and hope we can move on. Wak is playing it just right.

Ryan, My man! Duke here, from the ‘Hawks Insider, had to swing by and congratulate you on an unbelievable win last night. The Grizz are dancing son! What an unreal comeback, awesome game. Don’t be afraid to go all George Mason on ‘em. Good luck!!

That was a crazy basketball game and defines March Madness. Go Griz!

  4. Where the heck have I been. Wayne Tinkle is the coach these days? I remember watching that guy tear it up as a kid….

  5. Here’s hoping we can sign Lee to an extension!

My mother-in-law went to Weber St., so I’m happy as well. Haha.
