Angels manager Mike Scioscia has been named the American League manager of the year – a race in which three AL West managers, including Seattle’s Don Wakamatsu, finished in the top four spots.
In the voting by the Baseball Writers of America, Scioscia won his second Manager of the Year award and was followed by Minnesota’s Ron Gardenhire, New York’s Joe Girardi and a tie between Wakamatsu and Texas manager Ron Washington.
Wakamatsu, in his first season managing, led the Mariners to an 85-win season – stacking up a league high 24 victories over Seattle’s 2008 finish.
You know, if it wasn’t WAK, I would have rather been it Ron Washington. Both Texas and Seattle coaches did an excellent job of aiding in the revival of two pretty defunct teams!
Suppose it is what it is though…
GO M’s!
