What’s wrong with this picture? Read below.

Today’s Standings

AL WEST

Angels 52-38 .598 —

Rangers 50-41 .549 2.5

Mariners 49-43 .533 4.0

Oakland 39-52 .429 13.5

Quickly a few links about the Mariners.

I mentioned my column from today’s paper. But I also had my Sunday column which gave out midseason awards to the Mariners and around baseball.

My MVP – Felix Hernandez.

My LVP – Carlos Silva

At the bottom of this Ken Rosenthal story that deals mainly with Roy Halladay (like everything these days), it mentions the Mariners have some interest in Nationals outfielder Josh Willingham, but so do a lot of other teams.

SI’ Fan Nation blog says that Jarrod Washburn would be the most overrated player to acquire at the trade deadline. I don’t know that I agree completely with that premise, but I guess I can see where he’s coming from.

USS Mariner’s Dave Cameron explains why Russell Branyan’s production has fallen off.

The Angels had their game with Kansas City rained out yesterday and will play a doubleheader today. In Mike Digiovanna’s story for today, it also mentioned that GM Tony Reagins hasn’t given up on the idea of getting Roy Halladay.

Also in the piece, it mentions that Torii Hunter and Vlad Guerrero aren’t close to returning yet.

The Angels have had some interest in acquiring George Sherrill, but doesn’t want to leave Baltimore.

Speaking of Halladay, Tim Brown of Yahoo is reporting that the Jays are looking for in return what the Mariners gave up to get Erik Bedard, and then a little more. I don’t know if any team will allow themself to be Bavasi’d for Halladay.

The Rangers bats finally broke out in a big way against John Smoltz and the Red Sox. Closer Frank Francisco went on the DL again, this time with pneumonia.

But the biggest travesty on the night came in Oakland where the A’s were impressive rallying from a 10-run deficit to beat the Twins.

However the umpires calling Michael Cuddyer out at the plate late in the game was ridiculous. The Twins were not happy about it.

Here’s the video of it from MLB.com, and you can see how bad it is.

Also the Kansas City Star has this headline: Guillen: `I suck’ and am `embarrassed by the money I’m making’ The story is quite entertaining to read, I can almost see Jose’s crazy eyes shining and spinning as he’s saying those things.
