Baseball America picks M’s second in AL West

Just got the latest issue of Baseball America here at the complex in Peoria Spring training in complex. It’s their annual major league preview issue and in it their panel (group of very knowledgeable baseball writers) picks the Angels to finish first, the Mariners second, the Rangers third and the Athletics fourth.

Their “quick-take” on Seattle is this: The Mariners won 88 games despite being outscored last season, and one but not both of those trends can continue.

They rate Ryan Feierabend as the top “not-quite” prospect and Jeff Clement as the Mariners top prospect.

Felix Hernandez also is seventh in their list of Top 25 players under 25, with Miguel Cabrera heading that list.

Clement also ranks No. 22 in their top 25 rookies list — which isn’t bad since he might not even start the team with
