Postgame notes, Game 1

MARINERS NOTES:


The Mariners have won consecutive season openers for the first time since winning three in a row in 1995, ’96 and ’97.


Erik Bedard struck out the first batter on three consecutive strikes to start his Mariners. debut and finished with five

strikeouts on the night while only allowing three hits.


The Mariners recorded more walks (7) than hits (6) in today’s game; the Mariners only had more walks than today’s total in two games last season.

Game thoughts…. vs. the Texas Rangers, March 31

With most games being on TV and radio, I’m not going to do constant updates, but I’m going to write things during the game, that might not be picked up TV or radio.


And other thoughts as well.


First of all, the roof will be closed for the game today.


Dave Niehaus got a standing ovation for throwing out the first pitch. He was wearing a tux, which isn’t exactly Dave’s style. To make matters worse it looked like his pants may fall off.

Opening Day is finallly here!!!!


UPDATE 3:32 p.m. it started raining about 10 minutes after the Mariners opened the roof, now they are closing it again.


It’s finally here…. decent response on the predicitions, I’m hoping for a little more. Don’t be afraid to throw a few things out there. A little debate is a good thing.
