Having seen a lot of sports in the Tacoma Dome in years past with the Tacoma Rockets and the Tacoma Sabercats hockey teams in the 1990s, it was hard even then to draw crowds and they were minor league.

The talk back then was with improved sight lines and moving the seats closer to the arena, hockey could succeed there. However, this was never pursued and now we are without sports in our dome.

Geographically we are in a prime location for a Western Hockey League team, having Portland, Seattle (Kent) and Everett all around us. What an interest that would draw and rivalry if we could keep this at a minor league level and not major league, as was proposed. Perhaps if the feasability study were done with the wording of minor league sports in the Tacoma Dome, the results may have been different.
