OWLS: Don’t wage war on barred owls

Re: “Can shotguns save the spotted owl?” (editorial, 8-2).

As a past resident of very rural Pierce County, I am extremely disappointed to have read that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing a “war” on the barred owl.

I was a constant walker and runner around the Alder Lake area, and I noticed that the biggest issue with the decline of the spotted owl was traffic – not the barred owl but the large trucks and other modes of motorized transportation.
