TACOMA: TASC closure a loss for the community

The recent closure of Tacoma Ambulatory Surgery Center (TASC) doesn’t just herald another business failure but a significant loss to the community.

Over the past 30 years, TASC’s dedicated employees have consistently received nearly a 100 percent excellent rating by patients (over 60,000) for providing outstanding care, professionalism and compassion. Additionally, patients, insurance companies and employers have enjoyed significant financial savings (estimated at over $300 million) because surgery performed outside a hospital costs significantly less than using a hospital facility (usually one-third of the hospital cost).
