Sound Transit suing the Tacoma Rescue Mission is a bad idea. How many needy people will be deprived of shelter and food because funds must be used in defense of the suit?

High-speed trains running at a distance shorter than the width of a city lot are going to be very noisy, likely 25 decibels or more above the ambient sound level of the mission facility. By comparison, the Tacoma City Code prohibits more than five decibels above nighttime ambient levels, though trains are exempted.

The mission has good reason to require proof the noise will be adequately mitigated. Promises …
