ELECTION: Kochmar best for the 30th District

Linda Kochmar, through her hard work on the Federal Way City Council, has supported many strategies in the interest of the business community. What has happened on her watch and with her support?

She has worked with Realtors and developers to facilitate economic development during stressful economic times. Her stance on the budget during her tenure has been not to raise taxes and to face the challenge of balancing the budget with funds available.

When two businesses were poised to close down under financial hardship, she supported reducing the gambling tax so the businesses could keep people in Federal Way

ELECTION: Priest knows FWay community

Like me, many people in Federal Way have volunteered to work on community projects and found that Skip Priest was there too lending a hand. He didn’t do it for recognition; he didn’t start doing this when he decided to run for mayor, he just did it.

At a time when our mayor should be demonstrating the best side of our city, making community ties stronger and working to attract more business to Federal Way, Priest is our best choice. He has been a successful Federal Way mayor before working well with the rest of the elected City Council members.

ELECTION: Jim Ferrell should be FWay mayor

Professional politician Skip Priest now wants a new job. On the coattails of the hard work Jim Ferrell has done for the past eight years in Federal Way, Priest thinks he can just crawl back and convince people that he deserves to be our mayor. What rubbish.

Priest, on the other hand, tends to say whatever he thinks people

FWAY: Ferrell best for strong mayor position

I supported the change in Federal Way government to elect a strong mayor and attended the debate between the candidates. I find it fascinating that both Linda Kochmar and Mike Park were actively opposed to the strong mayor and even took an official position by voting for a council resolution to that effect.

Now that the voters have spoken, they have both decided to run for the position, touting their experience as mayor while admitting they cannot run the city without the help of a professional manager.

Skip Priest opposed the first try for a strong mayor, but

FWAY: Ferrell is the best choice for mayor

The News Tribune recently narrowed its pick to two Federal Way mayoral candidates: Linda Kochmar and Skip Priest (editorial, 7-23).

When I read that, I could only wonder if you’ve been paying attention and if you sent someone to cover the recent debate among the four candidates. If you had, you would have seen that Jim Ferrell stood out as the one who knew the issues.

Ferrell’s three opponents tried to convince the voters to vote no to even having an elected mayor. And yet here they are now, wanting the job.

I’ve seen Ferrell in action, and he is
