The report on Robert Van Handel goes beyond the needed information into a disgustingly detailed look at the pedophile’s disturbing actions and fantasies. When I open the newspaper I expect that there will be painful news, but I don’t expect to be handed the lurid details of sex crimes.
I’ve read newspapers my whole life, from childhood and into adulthood. I’ve encouraged my kids to read the newspaper, despite my growing unease with the current trend in “tell-all-the-disgusting-details” reporting. These days I feel like I need to carefully clip …
