DISASTER: Will Oklahoma legislators be hypocrites?

Since every Oklahoma Republican member of Congress voted against federal relief following the disaster of Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast, I understand that to avoid being labeled as hypocrites they will not accept federal emergency assistance but instead have put forward the following plan:

First, cut all taxes for corporations – especially oil companies. Next, distribute guns and ammunition to all citizens of Moore, Okla.

No doubt Republicans are confident that the “invisible hand of the free market” will restore the city to the high living standards currently enjoyed throughout the state of Oklahoma


ELECTION: Sandy shows Obama at his best

Hurricane Sandy roared in with unimaginable fury before the 2012 election. President Obama suspended campaigning, stepping up with decisive, steady leadership. He is working tirelessly with state governors to repair the destruction. It is inspiring to see him and Republican Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey collaborating to help the millions who are suffering.

Hurricane Sandy highlights some campaign issues. On the right, some want to shrink government down to the size of a pea. Yet when something occurs like Sandy, we see that an effective, strong federal government benefits us all. United we stand; divided we fall.
