POLITICS: Baseball sets example for politicians

Professional baseball is far more honorable and ethical than professional politicians. Baseball has banned betting on games and the use of steroids and other performance-enhancing substances – and is enforcing the banned behaviors by heavy punishments, including career-ending expulsions (examples: Pete Rose and Alex Rodriguez – both the best in their eras).

There will be no more players betting on games or player use of banned substances. Baseball will be more honorable role models for our youth and remain our premier pastime. Hooray for baseball!

Professional politicians have only vapid rules or bans on illegal or immoral behaviors – and

BENGHAZI: Public can handle the truth, Mr. President

Why has the man who promised to be the most transparent president in American history refused to let the public know exactly what occurred before, during and after the attack in Benghazi, Libya, that claimed the lives of four Americans?

Susan Rice, who was our United Nations ambassador at the time and has now been named national security adviser, appeared on five Sunday news shows and told us that the slaughter in Benghazi was simply a response to a movie.

I don’t think that more than even a very few of President Obama’s strongest supporters would seriously argue that what

BENGHAZI: Finding truth about attack does matter

Re: “Republicans show hypocrisy on Benghazi” (letter, 5-24).

This letter writer and other liberals have repeatedly claimed that the Iraq War was based on lies. This claim is simply not true. There was never any evidence to support these allegations directly other than people saying it. President Bush didn’t lie to the American people.

The writer asks, “Where were these so-called patriots when 4,000 Americans died in Iraq?” Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and true patriots were honoring them for making the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Where was she? Down at the Port of Tacoma participating in an

GOP: Republicans show hypocrisy on Benghazi

All this noise and pretend outrage over the attack in Benghazi and President Obama. Where were these so-called patriots when 4,000 Americans died in Iraq for George W. Bush’s and Dick Cheney’s lies? Not a peep out of any of them, even now, when the lies have been proved.

The Republicans refuse to acknowledge that they were culpable for the ruse that led to our war in Iraq and all those American lives. Considering the 12 embassy attacks that occurred during Bush’s term never resulted in months of questioning by the Senate, it seems just a tad bit hypocritical.

BENGHAZI: The truth about attack still not told

Now that John Brennan has been confirmed as CIA director by the Senate, it appears we may never learn the entire truth about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, or the apparent cover-up in the aftermath. Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham were going to hold up the confirmation until they received more information. It didn’t happen.

Neither former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta or Brennan provided much information. The Democrats spent their congressional time with Clinton praising her work at the State Department even though she had no knowledge of the lack

BENGHAZI: Hearing was so much hot air

The American people were once again provided a dog-and-pony show as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was brought before televised hearings before the House and Senate committees in regards to the Benghazi killings.

These hearings did nothing to answer questions about what actually took place in Benghazi where four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, were killed by terrorists. What these hearings did was allow Clinton the opportunity to continue on the road to the White House in 2016. If she had not shown up to make a token appearance there is no way that she would be a

BENGHAZI: Why it’s important to tell the truth

In her recent testimony before Congress, Hillary Clinton pounded the desk and ask, “Why is it important if the attack on our embassy was due to a revolt against a video or some guys walking down the street who just decided to kill some Americans?”

Neither scenario is correct. It was a well-planned, orchestrated attack carried out by a terrorist organization. Apparently she felt going on the offensive would divert attention away from the fact that the American people were lied to.

Why is it important to tell the truth about what really happened? Simple. If you lie about what

GOP: Hypocrites now try to pillory Hillary

Now that Republicans have tarred and feathered Susan Rice for the Benghazi tragedy, which she had nothing to do with, they try to pillory Hillary Clinton on live TV at the Senate hearings. Clearly, they want to wound her so that she will not defeat them so decisively in the 2016 election.

Yet it was Republicans who blocked hundreds of millions of dollars in funding that would have beefed up security at U.S. embassies around the world.

Generation of hypocrites!
