Why has the man who promised to be the most transparent president in American history refused to let the public know exactly what occurred before, during and after the attack in Benghazi, Libya, that claimed the lives of four Americans?

Susan Rice, who was our United Nations ambassador at the time and has now been named national security adviser, appeared on five Sunday news shows and told us that the slaughter in Benghazi was simply a response to a movie.

I don’t think that more than even a very few of President Obama’s strongest supporters would seriously argue that what transpired was just a response to an anti-Islam movie, so why did he and Hillary Clinton try to convince the world that it was?

After going on his apology tour in the Muslim world, he didn’t want anything to rock the boat, so he more or less stuck his head in the sand and hoped that the situation would blow over before the presidential election of 2012. Unfortunately, for all practical purposes, it did.

The wrongheaded and cowardly argument that is often put forth, and that Obama seems to agree with, is that America should not do or say anything that might turn more Muslims against us. If that’s not negotiating with terrorists, I don’t know what would be.

The president is indeed transparent, nd more and more Americans are beginning to see right through him.

This letter writer and other liberals have repeatedly claimed that the Iraq War was based on lies. This claim is simply not true. There was never any evidence to support these allegations directly other than people saying it. President Bush didn’t lie to the American people.

The writer asks, “Where were these so-called patriots when 4,000 Americans died in Iraq?” Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and true patriots were honoring them for making the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Where was she? Down at the Port of Tacoma participating in an anti-war rally?

Saddam Hussein had used WMDs on his own people and had a past history with known terrorist groups seeking to attack U.S. interests. Would Saddam have given a WMD to one of these groups to include al-Qaida?

Now that three whistle-blowers have testified about the Benghazi attack, we know the CIA told the White House the attack was a coordinated attack by terrorist groups linked to al-Qaida. But President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blamed the attack on a spontaneous mob angered over an anti-Islam video.

ABC’s Jonanthan Karl reported the CIA talking points were edited 12 times, and the State Department had significant inputs into the edits.

The congressional investigation is not a farce. It appears there was a cover-up to prevent information about a terrorist attack from being exposed weeks before the presidential election.

Who took part in the cover-up? The president? Secretary Clinton? It does make a difference.

Considering the 12 embassy attacks that occurred during Bush’s term never resulted in months of questioning by the Senate, it seems just a tad bit hypocritical.

Before anyone goes off on the whole “Everyone believed Saddam had WMDs, even Hillary Clinton” line, I did not support her for the 2008 Democratic nomination for just that reason.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., just keeps beating a dead horse, enjoying his TV time and hoping that more citizens will jump on the bandwagon and remain enraged. All of this hoopla continues while the Senate refuses to accomplish anything whatsoever to solve the myriad of problems in this country. However, the House has managed to vote 37 times to overturn Obamacare, to no avail.

Now that John Brennan has been confirmed as CIA director by the Senate, it appears we may never learn the entire truth about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, or the apparent cover-up in the aftermath. Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham were going to hold up the confirmation until they received more information. It didn’t happen.

Neither former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta or Brennan provided much information. The Democrats spent their congressional time with Clinton praising her work at the State Department even though she had no knowledge of the lack of security at the consulate. She should have been fired as Sen. Rand Paul suggested.

Ignorance is not an excuse. What happened to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center commander who didn’t know wounded warriors were living in substandard housing?

Clinton told the Senate committee, “What difference, at this point, does it make?” It makes a huge difference; this country is all about “truth, justice and the American way.” We want the truth, especially from our politicians, not misleading statements, cover-ups or outright falsehoods.

Back in September and October, the Democrats and the liberal press couldn’t have cared less about the truth. They wanted their candidate to win the election, and the president wanted to continue with the charade that “al-Qaida was on the run.”

In the end, it certainly looked like this whole episode was all about politics. Telling the truth about four murdered Americans was less important than winning a presidential election or tarnishing Clinton’s reputation.

What these hearings did was allow Clinton the opportunity to continue on the road to the White House in 2016. If she had not shown up to make a token appearance there is no way that she would be a Democratic presidential candidate in 2016.

All the questions that should have been asked were never asked. Democrats couldn’t contain their kudos for Clinton, which took up most of each of their five minutes of a photo op. The Republicans on the other hand spent the majority of their time stating everything about the incident which all was just rerun. Serious unanswered questions were few and far between.

Once again, the people are left without an admittance of blame for a fiasco and nobody’s reputation or job has been jeopardized. So, in the world of politics this is considered water under the bridge and time to move on to more pressing things, like raising the debt limit.

Why is it important to tell the truth about what really happened? Simple. If you lie about what happened you can’t be trusted on this or any other issue. However, some of her supporters and those in the far-left media are apparently more concerned with protecting her than providing the truth to the American people.

Re: “Remember who gave women the vote” (letter, 1-15).

The letter writer congratulates Republicans’ efforts to get women the right to vote in 1920. However, that was 93 years ago and it might have been the last effort by the GOP to help women.

With their continued talk of “legitimate rape” and the Republican-led House’s refusal to vote on the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, the Republican Party continues to show its true colors towards women. Let’s hope it doesn’t take another 93 years for Republicans to return to a position benefiting women.

The letter also claimed that nearly every cabinet woman in the current administration has left or been run out. This is patently false. Four of the five female cabinet secretaries from the first term are staying on, and Ambassador Susan Rice would have succeeded Secretary of State Hillary Clinton if not for Republican opposition in the Senate.

In addition, President Obama has nominated two women to the Supreme Court. These do not seem to be the actions of a president and a political party supposedly “waging a war on women.”

The president then went on TV and said if someone had a problem with Susan Rice they should talk to him. Why then hasn’t the president come forward to tell us what he knows about the attack? Why wasn’t help sent for more than 11 hours? Why haven’t the American people heard from any of those rescued from the annex?

We are now being told Hillary Clinton has a concussion and may not be testifying. Can’t she testify at a later date? I must say the older I get the more I question some of the dealings going on in Washington.

When the regional uprising began in the Middle East months ago, moderate Muslim leaders in the region were deposed and the radical Muslim Brotherhood rose to power, with President Obama and Hillary Clinton’s blessings. In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood got the blessing of the Obama administration. The same thing happened in Libya.

Now Egypt is helping to arm Hamas, which is terrorizing Israel.

Obama and Clinton knew the Muslim Brotherhood around the region would increase the likelihood of war and terrorism on Israel. Why did they then bless its rise to power? Obama’s cover for blessing the organization was that “democracy” was on display.

Why does Obama tend to cover for terrorists? Why did the Obama administration deny that the Libyan killings of four Americans in Benghazi was a terror attack? Why was the wounding and killing of many U.S. soldiers at an American military base in the U.S. by a man yelling jihadist slogans not considered a terror attack by the Obama administration?

This current Middle East conflict began shortly after Obama’s re-election and is happening because Obama has signaled to the terrorists that he sides with their cause.
