FOOD: There’s a reason GMO crops are being banned

Re: “Let the market decide on bioengineered crops” (TNT, 5-29).

Genetically modified foods have been linked to gastrointestinal problems, neurological problems, arthritis and obesity. Most of the developed world has banned GMOs – the European Union, Russia and China, to name a few. Countries are destroying GMO crops and not accepting new crops.

ECONOMY: Heed lesson offered by Greece

Re: “Greece: A cautionary tale with a moral for America” (editorial, 5-5).

I fervently pray that everyone in our country has the sense to see the correlation between our national spending binge and what is happening in Greece and threatening to happen in Spain, Portugal and other European countries.

As your editiorial pointed out, there are very real lessons for each of us to remember that eventually you pay for what you get whether you have earned it yourself through your own hard work or you feel it’s deserved and not earned. In the end, we will all pay.
