TACOMA: Bimbo’s recipes lack key ingredient

I so enjoyed the article on Bimbo’s Italian Restaurant and recipes (TNT, 6-25) as our family went there often while I was growing up.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but any Italian knows that a pasta sauce recipe cannot be duplicated. No matter how many times you try even with the cook showing you, it will not come out the same.

There are intangible ingredients that become part of making these enigmatic sauces. The person’s heart, soul and uniqueness somehow get infused into the preparation and it becomes one’s own, never to be duplicated. Italians

TACOMA: Give us a taste of Bimbo’s legendary sauces

Re: “The strange-but-true story of Bimbo’s legendary sauces” (TNT, 6-25).

I really enjoyed the article about Bimbo’s Italian Restaurant. Although I never had the opportunity to eat there, I now wish I had. I have no relationship with the Rosi family and base these comments solely on the article.

My guess is that in 2001, when the city bought out Bimbo’s, it had no intention of letting those recipes age and then try and make a killing in the future, much-improved economy. In fact they probably had no idea what to do with them other than put them in
