BUDGET: New savings not all good news

The News Tribune reports that there is $340 million in newly expected savings from less reliance on state services.

Of course, there is a drop in the use of state services. The eligibility for the Basic Health Plan and TACID were raised and home care hours for the disabled and elderly have been cut four times in the last three years.

The need is still there; the services have just disappeared. This is balancing the budget on the back of the state’s most vulnerable. New revenue must be found.
